KOTA KINABALU, Sept 16 — The federal government will support the Sabah state government in developing the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) project for the benefit of the people in the state, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said tonight. He said the development of the Tanjung Aru beach was a viable investment which includes preserving the environment.
“This project is worth investing in because any effort to protect the environment makes good business that generates good revenue.
“We (federal government) will support this project with a facilitation fund. We will do whatever (it takes) to preserve its beauty,” he said at the launch of the TAED project here. [this is shit]
Najib said he was excited with the project and hoped that the state government would turn the project into a reality for the people to enjoy.
The prime minister said Tanjung Aru was synonymous with the people in Sabah and it was high time to resuscitate and give new life to the beach, and at the same time, give back to the people that have had fond memories there.
“We need development, but such development must be in sync with the environment. We must protect and preserve it for the future generation,” he said.
Najib said Sabah had enormous potential in tourism, especially in eco-tourism, and the warmth of the people of various races in the state was hard to beat.
The project will develop 260 hectares of land along the Tanjung Aru beach by rehabilitating the beaches and regenerating the parks.
The master plan of the project placed emphasis on community facilities, open space, landscaping and supported by many sustainable environmental features. — BERNAMA
