lots of rubbish

Victor has to prove what he had said or he is a greedy "LIAR" Joshua

Quote: " "What (Datuk) Victor had said is true. Now decades down the road, more beach land has been lost, those seawall structures have since collapsed and more Aru (Casuarina) trees have vanished," Vanhouten noted.
At the briefing for the Federation of Chinese Associations Sabah (FCAS) and Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK), Paul had said there was an urgent need to save Tanjung Aru Beach which has already lost 60 to 70 metres to erosion over the past 50 years.
"So one of the first tasks will be pushing back the sea to regain the land that was lost to erosion over the years," he had said. "

Who want to believe such flimsy excuses to grab the prime land? How much Victor owe the public in Perdana Park? He should know why erosion is taking place like in Tanjung Aru. It is due to other seashore reclaimed along the west coast of Sabah especially Kota Kinabalu City, STAR, Sutera, Sembulan, and the equilibrium needs to be adjusted naturally hence the erosion of Tanjung Aru. Victor may be "blind" and can fool others but not all the people to justify the land grab. Victor, what about the land in Metro Town?

Tanjung Aru Eco Development marks Benoy’s first project in the exotic state of Sabah. Positioned as the ‘Gateway to Sabah, Borneo’, the beachfront site spanning 260 hectares will establish a unique and vibrant precinct in one of the country’s fastest growing cities. Located next to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, the development has been designed as a premier tourism destination and a residential community; forging together distinct character areas, treed beaches, public parks, resort hotels, beach clubs, marinas, entertainment, recreation and dining.
Simon Blore, Global Managing Director, commented, ‘Tanjung Aru Eco Development is a significant scheme for Benoy, not only as our maiden project in Sabah but also for the opportunity we have been given to shape and transform one of Malaysia’s favourite cities. Our aspiration behind the design has been to create a precinct that is unique in its quality and sense of place and that is imbued with a set of principles that will guide the future of this new district’.

Najib: Federal Government will support Sabah State Government in developing Tanjung Aru Eco Development project
KOTA KINABALU, Sept 16 — The federal government will support the Sabah state government in developing the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) project for the benefit of the people in the state, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said tonight.
He said the development of the Tanjung Aru beach was a viable investment which includes preserving the environment.
“This project is worth investing in because any effort to protect the environment makes good business that generates good revenue.
“We (federal government) will support this project with a facilitation fund. We will do whatever (it takes) to preserve its beauty,” he said at the launch of the TAED project here. [this is shit]
Najib said he was excited with the project and hoped that the state government would turn the project into a reality for the people to enjoy.
The prime minister said Tanjung Aru was synonymous with the people in Sabah and it was high time to resuscitate and give new life to the beach, and at the same time, give back to the people that have had fond memories there.
“We need development, but such development must be in sync with the environment. We must protect and preserve it for the future generation,” he said.
Najib said Sabah had enormous potential in tourism, especially in eco-tourism, and the warmth of the people of various races in the state was hard to beat.
The project will develop 260 hectares of land along the Tanjung Aru beach by rehabilitating the beaches and regenerating the parks.
The master plan of the project placed emphasis on community facilities, open space, landscaping and supported by many sustainable environmental features. — BERNAMA

13. The launch

CHIEF MINISTER OF SABAH, YAB DATUK SERI PANGLIMA MUSA HAJI AMAN’S SPEECH AT THE LAUNCH OF THE TANJUNG ARU ECO DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
AT PRINCE PHILLIP PARK, TANJUNG ARU, ON 16 SEPTEMBER 2013

On behalf of the Sabah State Government, I wish everyone here a happy 50th Malaysia Day, a historic event that brought us all together as a nation and one that has led to progress for all. I am honoured to welcome our Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri Panglima Najib Tun Abdul Razak and wife Yang Amat Berbahagia Datuk Seri Panglima Rosmah Mansor to the historical Prince Phillip Park this evening for the launch of the Tanjung Aru Eco Development Project. Your presence here means a lot to us in Sabah, and we thank you for joining us this evening despite your hectic schedule.  I would also like to acknowledge the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister, Yang Amat Berhormat Tan Sri Muhyiddin Mohd Yassin and wife Puan Sri Norainee Abdul Rahman at this most auspicious occasion.

Tanjung Aru holds a special place in the heart of every Malaysian in Sabah.  Its beaches have for many generations served as a backdrop for priceless memories among countless families. The surrounding areas are rich in history, being the previous site for the colonial and State government quarters. Tanjung Aru is also home to one of the most magnificent sunsets in the world – and this is a fact that Malaysians in Sabah are proud about.

The passing of time has however taken its toll on Tanjung Aru. In the last few decades, some sections of the beach have suffered erosion, and lands in the surrounding areas have fallen to neglect.  Our icon has lost some of its shine. The Governmentis determined to not only restore Tanjung Aru, but ensure its future is secure for generations to come. We are determined to transform this historic place so that we can return Tanjung Aru to the people of Sabah.

The launchof Tanjung Aru Eco Development or TAED for short marks a major step that is the culmination of much time and effort in the past year to make our vision a reality. The development is also very much in line with the Federal Government's policy under the leadership of the Prime Minister, who has embarked on an Economic Transformation Programme (ETP), that has identified tourism among others as a key economic sector. We commend you Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri for introducing visionary and timely initiatives that are driving the nation forward.  The focus on tourism as one of the key sectors augurs well for Sabah which has consistently worked hard to develop this sector, and is very relevant to the launch we are here for this evening.

TAED is a massive undertaking overseen and will be implemented by Tanjung Aru Eco Development Sdn Bhd, a wholly Government-owned company under the Chief Minister’s Department. The board of directors comprises highly qualified figures from the private sector and the civil service. I am certain that with their leadership, we will be able to achieve the goals set for Tanjung Aru. These goals include rehabilitating the beaches, regenerating parks and rejuvenating tourismin this particular area.

TAED is a project of utmost priority to the state as it is for the people of Sabah. Tanjung Aru will always belong to the people of Sabah. TAED is a strategic initiative with strong State and Federal support, and it will become a new gateway, adding to unique tourism attractions of Sabah. The Master Plan also places emphasis on community facilities, open space, landscaping and is supported by many sustainable environmental features.
TAED also has the added challenge of ensuring without fail that environmental issues are given priority and the target of achieving a Green Building Index Standard must be met. This will see this eco development project cleaning up and rehabilitating the beaches, sea and surrounding land, and all further discharge of pollutants into the sea will be prohibited. Existing structures including at the First Beach will be demolished, and new buildings will have to comply with the Green Building Index Standard. Fifty per cent, or half, of the land will be reserved for public use.

Without doubt, TAED will be yet another milestone for Sabah, marking its place on the world map, matching or even surpassing popular destinations in the region. It will cost the government billions of ringgit to secure the success of TAED and to obtain funding required, the State Government is taking several steps. These include engaging local and foreign investors, ensuring long-term tenure anda first-class water front development that comparable to other regional locations.

These investments will spur our economy and boost the income potential of Malaysians in Sabah, and in our efforts to attract investors, specially designed tax incentives are already in place.

In addition to the detailed planning invested in TAED, a large part of its success will be derived from the truly unique features of Sabah, the Land Below the Wind. We are strategically located in this region, and we are rich in cultural heritage thanks to our melting pot of over 30 ethnic groups. We are blessed with natural assets supported by diverse ecosystems that range from mountainous regions to lowland rainforests, flood plains and marine wonders. We are home to some of the most iconic wildlife on the planet, such as Orang Utans, Borneo Pygmy Elephants and Proboscis Monkeys. Sabah is committed to safeguarding its natural assets, we have taken some bold measures all in the interest of preserving these unique gifts for our future generations.

We have taken careful steps towards making the Tanjung Aru Eco Development a reality, and this is our way of ensuring that Tanjung Aru will always belong to the people of Sabah. On behalf of the State Government, I thank Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Seri for agreeing to officiate the launch of the Tanjung Aru Eco Development.

I also wish to thank guests who have come from far and wide to this launch, and I hope this has been a fruitful trip for you.

On that note, I thank everyone present here this evening.

PKR is ill informed on TAED as it is still land grab.

PKR supports Tanjung Aru project - but with conditions
Published on: Wednesday, June 04, 2014   Daily Express

PKR Api-Api Assemblywoman Christina Liew said the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) project is worth supporting but that there are certain aspects relating to use of "public assets" that need to be thrashed out.
"One glaring issue at hand is the limited access to the Tanjung Aru Beach for the public, given the small area as allocated, as the rest has been earmarked for commercial development (hotel, resort and cafeteria).
With such restriction, how do you expect people to come in droves and enjoy the seaview and sunset?
"Will the public be still allowed to jog along the whole stretch of the beachfront once the proposed hotel and resort have come up?
And where is the car park designated for the public? There is no clear indication in the development plan.
"Similarly, a chunk of the Prince Philip Park will be taken away for the same purpose although it is offset with an extension of the park for public use. Hence, we are invariably losing some of our 'public assets' in the name of development," she said at a press conference, here, Tuesday.
Liew, who is Sabah PKR Deputy Chairperson, also expressed concern over the proposed sea reclamation for extension of the beachfront.
In view of this, she urged the project not to rushed through CABINET.
Tanjung Aru Eco Development Sdn Bhd (TAEDSB) is the master developer of the TAED revival project, and is 100 per cent-owned by the Sabah State Government.
She was commenting on Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman's statement that the integrated development master plan would be tabled for the Cabinet's consideration soon.
"You cannot do that until the people are happy and satisfied with the public access to Tanjung Aru Beach and Prince Philip Park. I came to the DBKK Headquarters tUESday to view the Final Draft KK Local Plan 2020 but there are no details of the proposed TAED revival project to show public access. "What I saw was the zoning on display but no detailed development plan," she SAID.
Liew hoped that a public hearing would be conducted to listen to public objections, and consider suggestions on TAED prior to approval of the re-zoning exercise.
Meanwhile, she thanked Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) for extending the date for public viewing and objection to the Draft Kota Kinabalu Local Plan 2020 to June 6.

deep regret for this too simplistic support of some blind people

SUCCC backs Tg Aru beach revival project

by Chok Sim Yee. Posted on June 3, 2014, Tuesday
KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah United Chinese Chambers of Commerce (SUCCC) has expressed its full support towards the Tanjung Aru Eco Development (TAED) revival project as it can attract more foreign investments and tourists into Sabah.
SUCCC president Datuk Seri Panglima Gan Sau Wah said the TAED would also create an iconic destination for people in the Greater Kota Kinabalu to enjoy.
“The price of property and land will also appreciate after this project is implemented,” Gan said yesterday.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman released a statement on the masterplan of the TAED revival project on Sunday, saying that the Tanjung Aru Beach and Prince Philip Park are not and will never be for sale.
Under the revival project, Musa said the Tanjung Aru Beach would be widened by four to five times to at least 50 metres at high tide from nine metres currently.
In addition, the Prince Philip Park will be more than double in size from 5.86 hectares now, as well as extending a new public promenade by more than a kilometer for recreation. The park will be further enhanced with its rainforest theme and the amenities.
Gan said Kota Kinabalu is an important city in the Asean region.
“If this project takes off, it will enhance the image of Sabah in the region, elevate the people’s standard of living and create more job opportunities,” he said.
Gan said the people should realize that this project would bring immense benefits not only to them, but for the future generations as well.
“This revival plan proves that Musa is a visionary man,” said Gan.
He said the masterplan had outlined that the Prince Phillip Park would be more than double in size, whilst the environmental impact and environmental sustainability would be studied by experts.
“Personally, I think that there will be no progress if we are unwilling to change.
“If we stubbornly resist change, there will be no future,” Gan pointed out.
For instance, Singapore has resorted to sea reclamation for developments as it has run out of land.
“Don’t object to the masterplan due to small issues.
“I believe this project, under the State Government and Musa’s leadership, will soon be realized,” he said.

if not sold, why invest RM5billions?

Musa, who is also the state Finance Minister, said the project would attract an estimated RM5 billion in investment and boost Sabah’s tourism industry and more importantly, it would create jobs for the present and future generations.

why nothing about TAED?

Last day to view KK Local Plan tomorrow
Published on: Sunday, June 01, 2014
Kota Kinabalu: Tomorrow (June 2) is the last day for the public to view the Kota Kinabalu Local Plan and file their objections in writing on official form, if any, at the first floor of the City Hall meeting room before 5pm, prior to the official approval and gazetting of the documents.
A town planner on anonymity said, among other things, that the new zoning category of "Mix Development" was applied to the two rows of houses in Tg Aru where the Japanese Consulate is and the Indonesian Consul resides. Two detached houses there are also noted for commercial activities - a bridal business from a night entertainment joint and a Korean restaurant.
However, others like the row where former Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Peter Lo resides comes under 'Residential (H) for high-density development surrounded by hotels and resorts (HR).
He stressed that abuses tend to proliferate if the public remains ignorant or apathetic towards urbanism profiteering issues pertaining to proper planning which has a great bearing on their and their progeny way of life.
Meanwhile, the plan for night market hawkering on Gaya Street every Friday and Saturday has come in for public criticism due to the disorderliness that such activities bring to the city's oldest street.
Shopkeepers and eateries doing business there also resent the plan as it would drive away some discerning customers and tourists for food offerings due to the congestion and parking woes.
Critics say DBKK should not be in the business of setting up more eateries (like at the Observatory Tower with litter thrown down) and hawkering spots, questioning whether insiders are benefiting from subletting some hawker licensed spots from the wet market to other places where some subletting retailers claimed to pay a much higher rate than the official rate to the rent seeking connected class.
In Inanam, youth football teams rue the loss of the Inanam Telekom football field and the Tg Aru Hone place football field, and question the authority's priority for providing open space for sports and recreation, leading to a drop in the sporting standards of the State from soccer to hockey.
Business people say what DBKK should do is set up night market hawkering spots along Jalan Padang where buses and taxis ceased business at night and there is no obstruction to shops and traffic flow.
Or from the back of the DBKK car park in front of the deserted library, court house car parkto the city park, next to the Kampung Air night market so it would be a continuation of such activities in a critical connected mass.
There is already enough disorderliness in the Sinsuran Filipino market vicinity with its night market catering to like-minded crowds.
